Exopack Advanced Coatings marks first year in North Carolina with manufacturing success

MATTHEWS, N.C. – Completing one year of operation under the respected Exopack banner, Exopack Advanced Coatings is surging ahead with the manufacturing of its core product lines following relocation of its operations from South Hadley, Mass. to Matthews, N.C.
“While we continue to service the custom coatings and laminating side of our business, the Matthews facility has given us a solid foundation for developing new branded product lines that will be marketed and distributed by us,” said David Neal, Exopack Advanced Coatings Vice President of North America and Asia. One recent addition: a new sheeting line that complements the company’s electronic and other products.
Neal said the North Carolina site has integrated three of the company’s core lines from South Hadley: long established electronic films -- including phototools; a variety of conductive products covering medical, whiteboard and battery current collector material, plus all microfilm products.
Relocating these products to the Matthews manufacturing site has spurred a doubling of the production workforce, Neal said. “In addition to our key product areas, this facility presents us with the opportunity to develop new product lines that will help us expand our share of all the markets we participate in,” he said.
Neal said growing demand for the company’s coating products in the electronics market has earned Exopack Advanced Coatings the distinction of becoming a net exporter of products into Asia – an uncommon status among U.S.-based businesses today.
“The successful transition -- bringing together existing technology and new equipment -- and the ramping up of production in Matthews reflect the high level of support we have enjoyed the last 12 months from the Exopack corporate family,” Neal said.
